NECS Grand Fondo Update

The results are in from our recent Gallup poll and the NECS Grand Fondo is on for the Independence Day weekend. This year's stellar event, one that even has recent Giromania winner Alberto Contador on the fence as to whether he will defend his TdF title or jet across the Atlantic for this summer classic.
Participants will roll out of the Casa de CDubs the morning of July 3rd and trace the route made famous in last year's NECS Non Race, The Peekamoose 100 tackling the East side of the Col d' Minnewaska with it's Category 3 and Category 2 double summit. Heading South, next up will be the Category 4 Roundout climb that will take non racers to the base of the Col d' Peekamoosse featuring this year's Cima Coppi and the 10 Euro bonus for the first over the summit. The descent off the summit is considered to be as difficult as the Monte Crostis giving little time to recover before Mt. Sampsonville and it's multiple summits that range from Category 4 to Category 1.
The descent into Kerhonkson takes non racers through the final feed zone before tackling the West side of the Col d' Minneswaska, but rather then a direct assault on the summit riders will be redirected to the backside of Monhonk where the final grinder up the Category 3 Clove Road climb awaits. After cresting the final 16% pitch it will be a fast descent off of the East side of the Col d' Minnewaska and rolling terrain to the finish where,if any of the sprinters have managed to stay on the pain train, they will be rewarded with a 1km run into the finish.

Gupppies will have arrive to the reading of ancient scrolls, hoots and hollers. Along with the KoM there will be some form of Guppydom awarded.

That sounds like a nut-ripper. When?

Nuts will be ripped off and put on the grill July 3. All are welcome but it will not be near the class of event experienced at Council Bluff.
